We Were Never Human - Speculative wearable prototyping, BAU Barcelona, 2024


Masks as tools of identity experimentation, synthetic, non-gendered, non-human. This project explores the natural/artificial binary and the construction of gender through the lens of Latour, Haraway, and Butler.

Material experiments with acrylic, aluminium wire, gold chain, and pearls moved toward wearable prototypes that sit between adornment and prosthetic, between costume and second skin. Photographed as self-portraits, the masks function as speculative embodiment, hybridity made tactile.
